Where can I print my portraits?
I recommend ordering prints from your Pixieset gallery. When purchasing prints from Pixieset, you get the best quality prints that will last forever and be true in color. I do not recommend printing from drug stores or shopping centers such as Walmart or Costco as the prints will be reduced in quality and may not have the same color profile.
Why Birth Photography?
Allow me to tell your story.
If you are here reading this, you are either interested in birth photography or just curious about the details, either way let me answer some questions you may have.
Just like your wedding day, the day you give birth is a whirlwind and before you know it it's over and you're like wait what just happened??
The day you get married and the day you have your child/children are the most important days of your entire life, so many beautiful and intimate moments happen and you miss some of it because there's so much going on.
Your mind is racing, the adrenaline, the medication, the calls/texts, the contractions, the visitors, focusing on getting some rest.. you may not get to see your mom smiling at you with pride from across the room, or your husband's face as he holds your hand through a contraction, or your child's very first moments of life, and you won't see the way you looked when you wrapped your arms around your newborn finally.
You'll feel all of these things, but birth photography is the only way you can go back and feel those things over and over again. Focus on those special moments with your loved ones instead of worrying about making sure someone snapped photos, let ME worry about that.
So maybe the question you should ask is why not?
Birth photography is not for everyone, some aren't comfortable with a stranger being a part of something they may consider private, and I completely understand that. But I hope you'll consider it, and I can promise you that you'll never regret it.
How do you handle a situation where kids or partners hate getting their photos taken?
Before your session, pack a bag with water and your kids’ favorite snacks - hubby's, too ;)
If they’re too young to follow directions, bring any objects that you think might help me get their attention (like small toys or stuffed animals) when it’s time for them to look at the camera.
If your little ones are old enough to understand you, it’s a good idea to prepare them for what’s to come before the session starts. Explain how much the photos mean to you so they know to be on their best behavior. A lot of families pick something fun to do –– as a treat after the session –– if their kiddos are good listeners. Like dinner at their favorite pizza place or an ice cream cone!
Clients always think I'm crazy when I say my favorite clients are small children who have a hard time standing still or smiling!
I have four very young children of my own (and a husband who doesn't always love his picture taken), so I completely understand and can relate with the craziness that comes along with small children + stubborn partners. Let's just say I've learned some "tricks" to getting genuine laughs + smiles during a photoshoot.
How should we coordinate outfits for our photoshoot?
SOLID COLOR & NEUTRALS!
Choose coordinating colors, not matching.
Keep the location of your session and the season in mind while planning your outfits.
One of the most important things to remember is to choose an outfit that you feel beautiful in.
A top favorite outfit choice for women are flowy dresses or skirts with closed toed heals or ballet flats.
For men, a nice long-sleeve button-down or dress shirt with slacks and nice pair of dress shoes.
Avoid wearing tight clothing and anything else that feels restrictive and uncomfortable.
Also try to avoid wearing casual shoes like tennis shoes and flip flops, or tops that have distracting prints and logos.
When in doubt, send me a message and also check out Pinterest.
