Lyska's backstory
They saw each other in the airport & she instantly knew there was something special about that guy ...
Lyska and Sean were both wearing their BYU college apparel and that was how Lyska knew she could easily start up a conversation with him.
Her plan was to bump into him after they went through the security check.
After she went through, she gathered her belongings, found a bench, and began to pull on her tall brown leather boots.
That's when she realized he was standing right next to her.
He proceeded to ask her if she needed any help.
She said "oh, no thank you. I already got my bags."
He said, "oh, I meant, do you need help with your boot?"
She blushed, and the rest is history.
Sean and Lyska both graduated with their Bachelor's degrees from Brigham Young University.
Lyska majored in Family Life (and spent 3 years focusing on Elementary Education), while Sean majored in Chemical Engineering.
They spent their first two years of marriage going to college full-time and working part-time.
Lyska worked on campus as a Testing Center Employee; working at the computer and printer handing out tests to college students, filing the tests, and proctoring testing students. She also worked at a bakery.
Sean worked on campus as a Custodian for a few different campus buildings.
During their summers off from school, Sean would work for Vivint and sold home security systems.
That summer job took Sean and Lyska to Lake Charles, Louisiana and Anchorage, Alaska!
Here they are 13 years later, having just celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary!
The photo above shows Lyska and Sean holding their framed wedding photo.
They began a tradition several years ago on their 6th wedding anniversary where they took a picture of them holding their framed wedding photo (representing the first five years of their marriage).
For their 12th wedding anniversary photo (pictured above), they had their 11th anniversary photo printed off and framed in the same wedding frame!
Each year they will print off their previous year's wedding anniversary photo, place it in the wedding frame, and take their current anniversary photo.

Fun Facts
Lyska was born and raised in the pacific northwest, Washington state. There is only one stoplight in her entire hometown of Elma! She graduated in the barn at the local fairgrounds. Her school literally placed a stage on the dirt floor of the arena for the high school graduates to sit on.
Lyska's hobbies include, but are not limited to:
- playing the piano
- baking cream cheese cherry pie, chocolate chip cookies, & Texas sheet cake
- going on walks with her husband and their daughters
- working out at the gym
- hiking, riding dirt bikes, paddle boarding, and wakeboarding
Lyska and her four siblings tried out for Family Feud in 2017 and made it to callbacks
(they didn't get to meet Steve Harvey, unfortunately).
